Shoppers looking up GINZA SIX luxury brands usually want to know two things: which houses are there, and whether the complex is worth a dedicated stop when the same brands have standalone stores nearby. The short answer is that GINZA SIX is the most efficient single building in Ginza for comparing several fashion houses under one roof.
The basics
| Address | 6-10-1 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo |
|---|---|
| Opened | 20 April 2017 |
| Shop hours | 10:30 to 20:30 |
| Restaurant hours | 11:00 to 23:00, varying by venue |
| Nearest station | Ginza Station (Ginza, Marunouchi and Hibiya lines), exit A3, about two minutes on foot |
| Closed | Irregular days; check before visiting |
Which luxury houses are there
The street-level frontage on Chuo-dori is taken by multi-floor flagships. Tokyo’s official tourism site highlights Fendi, Saint Laurent and Vivienne Westwood, and House of Dior Ginza occupies the first to third floors. Celine, Valentino, Van Cleef & Arpels and Bulgari are also among the names associated with the building. Tenants change, so use the official floor guide for the current list before you go.
Because each flagship has its own street entrance as well as access from inside, you can move between houses without going back outdoors, which is a real advantage in rain or summer heat.
More than shops
- Rooftop garden with views over Ginza. Useful as a rest stop between purchases.
- Kanze Noh Theater in the basement, with about 480 seats.
- Art installations in the central atrium, which change periodically.
- Dining on the upper floors, open later than the shops.
Tax-free shopping
GINZA SIX offers tax-free shopping for eligible visitors. Procedures differ between tenants: some flagships handle it at their own till, others use a shared counter. Ask before you pay, and keep your passport with you. From 1 November 2026 Japan moves to a refund method, where you pay the tax-inclusive price and claim the tax back after customs confirms the goods are leaving the country. Our tax-free shopping guide explains the change.
GINZA SIX or a standalone flagship?
| GINZA SIX | Standalone Ginza flagship | |
|---|---|---|
| Comparing several houses | Fast: all in one building | Requires walking between streets |
| Depth of one brand | Large, but one of several Tokyo stores | May carry the widest range and special services |
| Weather | Fully indoors | Outdoors between stores |
| Rest and food | Rooftop, cafes and restaurants on site | Depends on the area |
Stock is not shared between a brand’s Tokyo stores. If you need a specific item, contact the store you plan to visit.
How to plan the visit
- Go at opening. 10:30 on a weekday is the quietest time.
- Start with the item most likely to be out of stock. Leave browsing for afterwards.
- Allow 30 to 45 minutes per serious stop, more if tax-free paperwork is involved.
- Combine it with the rest of Ginza. The Ginza 4-chome crossing, Wako and the department stores are a few minutes north. Our Ginza luxury shopping guide sets out a route.
Frequently asked questions
Is GINZA SIX a department store?
No. It is a shopping complex of individual tenants. Each brand runs its own store, so policies on returns, alterations and tax-free handling are set by the tenant.
Are prices different from other boutiques?
Official retail prices for a brand are normally the same across its Japanese boutiques. Confirm at the store.
Is it suitable for a first visit to Ginza?
Yes. It is easy to find, close to the station and gives a quick overview of several houses.
