Roppongi luxury shopping is spread across three large developments in Minato ward: Roppongi Hills, Tokyo Midtown and the newest, Azabudai Hills. None has the density of Ginza, but together they offer major houses in calmer, more spacious settings, with galleries, gardens and restaurants built in.
Azabudai Hills
The development opened in stages from late 2023 around Japan’s tallest building, the Mori JP Tower. Its retail is split between the Tower Plaza at the foot of the tower and four low-rise Garden Plaza buildings. The luxury houses are in the Garden Plaza:
| House | Location | Categories announced by the developer |
|---|---|---|
| Hermes | Garden Plaza C, 1F | Bags, leather goods, shoes, menswear and womenswear |
| Cartier | Garden Plaza C, 1F | Jewellery, watches, bags and leather goods |
| Dior | Garden Plaza C, 1F | Womenswear, bags and leather goods |
| Bulgari | Garden Plaza B, 1F | Jewellery, watches, leather goods and fragrance |
The developer’s tenant announcement also names Celine, Bottega Veneta, Berluti and the multi-brand watch boutique TimeVallee.
Roppongi Hills
The tree-lined Keyakizaka-dori on the south side of Roppongi Hills is the luxury street. Louis Vuitton Tokyo Roppongi is at 6-12-3 Roppongi on Keyakizaka-dori, and the street has also housed boutiques for Tiffany and other international brands. The Mori Art Museum and the observation deck are in the main tower.
Tokyo Midtown
Midtown’s Galleria has about 130 shops and restaurants. It leans towards design, Japanese craft and contemporary fashion more than the largest luxury houses, with the Isetan Salone select shop among its anchors. It is a good stop for gifts and for a break from flagship shopping.
Who this area suits
- Buyers with a short list that matches the houses above.
- Anyone who finds Ginza’s crowds tiring.
- Visitors staying in Roppongi, Azabu or Toranomon.
- Those who want to combine shopping with art or a long lunch.
It does not suit broad comparison across many brands, and there is no department store. For that, see our Ginza guide.
How the three compare
| Azabudai Hills | Roppongi Hills | Tokyo Midtown | |

| Luxury houses | Hermes, Cartier, Dior, Bulgari and others | Louis Vuitton and others on Keyakizaka-dori | Select shops and design brands |
| Atmosphere | New, quiet, landscaped | Established, busy, cultural | Relaxed, garden-side |

A half-day route
- Start at Azabudai Hills when the boutiques open. Visit your priority house first.
- Walk or take a short taxi to Roppongi Hills (about 15 to 20 minutes on foot) and walk down Keyakizaka-dori.
- Finish at Tokyo Midtown, ten minutes’ walk north of Roppongi crossing, for lunch and the Galleria.
The walks involve slopes. In summer or rain, use the Hibiya Line between Kamiyacho and Roppongi.
Practical points
- Stock: these boutiques are not the brands’ largest in Tokyo. Contact the store about a specific item.
- Tax-free: each boutique handles its own procedure. Bring your passport, and note the change to a refund method on 1 November 2026 explained in our tax-free guide.
- Timing: weekday mornings are quiet. Tenants and hours change, so check each complex’s shop list.
