Omega Speedmaster Price in Japan: October 2026 Retail Figures and Buying Guide

The Omega Speedmaster price in Japan is easy to verify, because Omega publishes prices on its Japanese website. This guide records what that site showed on 2 October 2026 for the two core Moonwatch references, explains what a visitor actually pays, and sets out where to buy in Tokyo.

Japanese list prices, checked 2 October 2026

Reference Crystal and case back Price on Omega Japan’s site
310.30.42.50.01.001 Hesalite crystal, steel bracelet ¥1,166,000
310.30.42.50.01.002 Sapphire crystal, see-through sapphire case back, steel bracelet ¥1,342,000

Both are the 42 mm Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional with the Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre 3861. Prices are as displayed on the product pages on the date above. Omega adjusts prices from time to time, so open the product page on the day you plan to buy.

Hesalite or sapphire?

  • Hesalite is the acrylic crystal used on the watches worn on the Moon. It scratches more easily and can be polished. It has a solid case back.
  • Sapphire resists scratches and adds a display back showing the movement. It costs ¥176,000 more at the prices above.

The two wear slightly differently on the wrist. Try both before deciding.

What a visitor pays

Japan’s consumption tax is 10 percent. For a qualifying visitor, the recoverable tax on the Hesalite model at the listed price works out as follows:

Listed price ¥1,166,000
Price before tax (÷ 1.1) ¥1,060,000
Tax component ¥106,000

Until 31 October 2026 the tax is taken off at the time of purchase. From 1 November 2026 you pay the full price and receive the tax back after customs confirms, at departure, that the watch is leaving Japan. Because the price is above ¥1,000,000 before tax, the store must record the watch’s identifying details, including its serial number. See our tax-free guide.

Your own country may charge duty and tax when you bring the watch home. That is separate from Japan’s system; the method is in Is Luxury Cheaper in Japan?

Where to buy new in Tokyo

  • Omega boutiques. The Nicolas G. Hayek Center in Ginza houses the Swatch Group’s brands, Omega among them.
  • Authorised retailers on the watch floors of the major department stores in Ginza, Shinjuku and Nihonbashi.
  • Haneda Airport. The duty-free watch area in Terminal 3 lists Omega among its brands.

Buying from Omega or an authorised retailer gives you the manufacturer’s warranty from the date of purchase. Confirm the warranty period and how it is registered.

Buying pre-owned

The Speedmaster is one of the most traded watches on the Japanese secondary market. Dealers at Nakano Broadway and in Ginza usually have several, across current and earlier references. We do not publish pre-owned prices because they move with each individual watch. When you compare, check:

  • The exact reference and calibre. Earlier Moonwatches used calibre 1861, not 3861. They are different watches at different prices.
  • Bracelet and clasp generation, and whether all links are present.
  • Service history and any replaced parts, especially the crystal, bezel insert and hands.
  • Box, cards and papers.
  • The dealer’s warranty terms and length.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Speedmaster cheaper in Japan than at home?

Compare the pre-tax yen figure, converted at your card’s real rate, with your home price, then add any duty at home. The answer changes with the exchange rate.

Does the price include tax?

Japanese consumer prices are normally displayed tax-inclusive. Confirm at the counter.

Is stock a problem?

The standard Moonwatch is a regular production model. Limited editions are a different matter; ask the boutique.
